Eddy Curry To Be Waived?

“The Knicks are planning to waive center Eddy Curry after February’s trade deadline, according to a report in The New York Post.

This suggestion makes sense, as Curry has proved again and again that his only value to the team is as a trading chip.

However, trading him (as opposed to simply waiving him after the deadline) would be much more beneficial for the Knicks, as Curry’s contract is large enough to nearly match up to some of the marquee players the Knicks hope to attract in 2011.

Giving those soon-to-be free agents a a small preview of what the team and the city has to offer (even if it was at the deadline) could help the Knicks chances in summer recruitment.
